Our Rabbi Joshua Maroof
Rabbi Joshua Maroof received his baccalaureate degree with honors from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his masters degree in Educational Psychology from the City University of New York (CUNY). He received semicha (ordination) from Rabbi Yisrael Chait, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva B'nai Torah in Far Rockaway, New York.

Rabbi Maroof is a creative writer and poet. He has authored many essays/papers addressing the fundamental issues related to Judaism. Rabbi Maroof is known as a dynamic public speaker and lecturer. During his tenure in New York, he was widely sought after as a teacher and counselor in Jewish day schools, post-high school yeshivot, and at seminaries.

Prior to his arrival at Magen David Sephardic Congregation, Rabbi Maroof was Rabbi of Beth Aharon Sephardic Congregation in Riverdale, New York. He also served as Rabbinical Director of Ben Porat Yosef, a Sephardic day school in New Jersey, and as Director of an advanced Judaic studies program for women.

Rabbi Joshua and Rabbanit Elana Maroof live in Rockville, Maryland with their five lovely children - Netanel, Zehara, Yedidya, Zerachya and Tiferet.

Our Rabbi's communal responsibilities include teaching classes, coordinating adult education, reading programs for our youth, and ministering to the pastoral needs of the congregation.
